Kids Tennis Camps —
Every School Break
Every age plays separately — kids, juniors, and adults all have their own court, their own coach, and their own format. No mixed-age groups.
Tennis camps for 3–7 Year Olds
in St. Petersburg
The youngest players need movement, play, and short-attention-span drills — not adult technique. Our Red Ball camps at Jack Puryear Park use low-compression foam balls and 36-ft courts sized for small bodies, so kids rally, score, and have fun from day one.
Duration: 3 hours · Group size: max 8 kids · PTR-certified coaches
-
🎯 Focus: Movement & Ball Tracking — Games over drills. Attention span is 5–8 min at this age, so every activity is short, fun, and active.
-
⏱ Session Length — 3 hours of dedicated court time. No waiting, no other age groups competing for the coach’s attention.
-
🎾 Equipment — Red foam ball (slowest compression), 19–21" junior racket. Coach provides all equipment — parents bring nothing.
-
📍 Location — Jack Puryear Park, St. Pete. Shaded court areas available for toddler morning sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a private tennis lesson cost in St. Petersburg, FL?
A single private (1-on-1) tennis lesson in St. Pete is $79.99 for 60 minutes — kids and adults same rate. Packages: 4-pack $279 (~$62/session), 8-pack $499 (~$59/session). No registration fees, no court fees. Compare: Innisbrook $75–80/hr · Isla Del Sol $85–100/hr · SVB $110+/hr. VS Tennis: lowest PTR-certified rate in St. Petersburg.
Where can I find a private tennis coach near me in St. Pete?
VS Tennis Academy teaches private 1-on-1 lessons at Puryear Park Tennis Courts, 841 58th Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33703. Lighted courts for evening sessions, free on-site parking. We serve St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, Gulfport, and St. Pete Beach — all ages.
What age can kids start private tennis lessons in St. Pete?
Private 1-on-1 lessons at Puryear Park start at age 3. Toddler sessions (age 3–5) are 30 minutes with a foam ball and focus on coordination and fun. Age 6–8 uses a red ball; 9–10 moves to orange ball for USTA 10U prep; 11–17 is full junior coaching. Every age gets a custom drill plan — not a generic kids curriculum.
Can adults get private one-on-one tennis lessons at Puryear Park?
No, you don't need to buy or bring any equipment! We provide high-quality tennis rackets and all the necessary training gear for your classes. All you need to bring is a pair of comfortable athletic shoes and a water bottle to stay hydrated on the court.
What is the difference between a private tennis lesson and a group class?
In a private (1-on-1) lesson, the coach's full 60 minutes belong to you or your child alone. In a group class of 6–12 players, actual coached contact is 8–17 minutes per hour. Motor-learning research shows individual coaching produces 3–4× faster technical improvement. Private coaching is the right format when you want measurable, fast progress — for kids or adults.
Is there a contract for private tennis lessons in St. Pete?
No contracts. Try a single 1-on-1 session at Puryear Park first ($69.99). Packages have no lock-in beyond their usage window (42 days or 3 months). Cancel monthly plans with 7 days notice. We earn your repeat booking with results — not paperwork.
